Our story and heart behind Daetry...

Our love for date syrup began when we moved to Abu Dhabi 10 years ago. Our unplanned 10-month lockdown in SA during COVID turned my husband’s longing for date syrup into our business. He was so excited about it that he said he was going to make it himself because we couldn’t find it anywhere in SA. We all laughed and didn’t think much of it, to our surprise he quickly made the first batch of date syrup. Daetry was born!

We always fight over who gets to lick the spoon, because this sweet treat is a staple in our house and is poured over everything.

We are incredibly passionate about this 100% natural product that only consists of South African dates!!! No extra sugar or preservatives are used. It is also handmade and bottled. It is a dark sweet syrup with a wilson toffee molasses taste and has a shelf life of more than a year and does not need to be stored in a refrigerator. It is full of iron, magnesium and potassium.

It is a versatile and healthy ingredient and a good substitute for any sugar. It is incredible over Greek yogurt, ice cream, in marinades, smoothies, oats. It is also delicious in a bbq sauce over ribs or pork belly… it makes a nice iced coffee and is very tasty on flapjacks or a waffle!

The entire process is handmade in Bloemfontein and a lot of time and love goes into each bottle. We get our dates from Upington or Augrabies and would like to keep it a proud SA product.

We currently sell it in different sizes and courier anywhere in the country.
